Susan G. Komen charity has decided to stop funding breast exams by Planned Parenthood. Komen instituted a policy not to fund groups under investigation. House Republicans have exploited this by launching an investigation of PP. Komen claims this is not buckling to political pressure, but it sure looks like it.
I will not fund Komen unless this decision is reversed, and I will encourage my family to do the same.
Too bad, because Komen has done good work. I blame the controllers of the House more than the charities reacting to pressure.

I saw this the other day. Very disappointing.
I think most people, even staunchly pro-choice people, are very uncomfortable with abortion and would love to see far fewer actually needed or performed. Educating women, especially about their health and their bodies, will do far more to reduce abortions than making them illegal.
Sadly, now even women's breast cancer screening at Planned Parenthood is held hostage to an agenda that won't do much to actually impact the abortion rate. Stupid.

is it not rational to call republicans "phucking azzholes" or not? I think yes.
The right's continued attack on PP is beyond shameful as is the 'liberal' (pause for laughter) media's lapdog coverage of that.

You know, some of us conservatives are getting really sick and tired of the loonies (no offense Canada, nothing to do with your currency) who act as if they 'speak' for us on social, moral, and/or religious issues.
If you have a problem with Planned Parenthood - stay away from the front door! Stop trying to legislate morality. It hasn't worked in 10,000 years without complete and total government control of the military, industrial, commercial sectors and a very tight police state to boot.
SGK does some great work. Fine people with a purpose that should stand above all things political! A shame to see them feel that they must move in this direction.
Of course, there may actually be something of merit behind the investigation but i for one would rather let the due process of law and the likes of some serious investigative reports to vet out the full story before we start screaming fire when there is only the hint of smoke.

I'm just sick and tired of seeing politics get involved in personal issues. Democrat, Republican, independent...whatever. I don't give a phuck, but dang, stay out of our personal lives!!!!!!!!

Heard about this the other day on NPR.
IIRC, Komen Fndn has a new VP - who happened to run for and not get elected gov in Georgia, I think - with a 'pro-life' platform. So Georgia's gain is PP's loss.
Yes, the conservatives and the GOP are all for 'getting gov't out of your life', but not as far as the bedroom, doctor office, or wedding hall are concerned.

Just saw that Planned Parenthood had an outpouring of donations in the past couple of days as a result of the defunding by the Koman Foundation so that virtually all the funds that were cut have been replaced.
