+1 to what eurochien said. When I did the Mt. Evans race way back in '93, it rained, sleeted snowed and the wind blew like hell. Temps were below freezing at the top. Thank god there were shuttles down...my hands were so frozen I would have died trying to descend.

    It was July 8th.

    Just say "NO!!" to WCP!

Thanks BikeCzar. For Trail Ridge, would you recommend going beyond the high point and then back up? If so, how far out would you go?

Roger that eurochien. Got caught out at altitude in a thunderstorm once riding up a nameless road to nowhere in Austria. Not pleasant but I found a good rock shelter. And then there was the time where we had to run down like hell on Mt Blanc to avoid one coming in fast from distance. Bloody killed the attempt to summit and we were doing so well.

The wise man said follow me...and he walked behind.

I'm assuming you're planning to ride from the Estes Park side. Yes, I would definitely ride beyond the high point and on over to the Alpine Visitor Center. You can have a snack and a cold drink there and enjoy some amazing views of the surrounding geology. It's a really cool place in a really cool National Park.

    This is now official.

Arriving Monday July 8 late, leaving the Saturday late.

That should give 4-5 days for some fine high altitude riding.

Clear the roads, lock the doors.
