Top pic is the bike being built up. Black lizard skin bar tape was a last minute concession to practicality from white. Probably gonna go with black bottle cages as I'm diggin the black/white scheme. Test saddle in place for positioning (its my very comfy trainer bike saddle) Had to stop because not only did the supplier send a BB that didnt fit, but the 12 tooth cog on the cassette was missing half a tooth! -- photo at bottom is the cog with the tooth problem. New parts will be in on Monday. If I screw up the photo posting, the links are below. Edit -- looks like I still cant do pics (I suck at this! -- maybe someone can get it into the thread for me? thx)

That pic looks like an extra small? The advantage to a white bike is that white or black parts all look good.

Very hot bike, I see they even have an extinguisher handy. Also your saddle is almost level.

its a small. PA you are right the pic sucks. I'll get some propper ones when its really ready. Bob you remember me and my saddle issues. The nose is still pointed down a bit. But between that and the upturned rear of the saddle I should find comfort. Thanks for getting it into the thread.

whaddya think about that cog? seems weird to me.

For those who care: weighs 12lbs as shown. With the crank 586grms/Pedals165grams/, cassette 177grms/chain 250grams it should be a tick over 14.5lbs ready to ride.

I was wondering if the saddle clamp on the mast was going to allow the angle you prefer.

My Defy is just under 15 with Zipp 303 wheels. It's a small too.

BN I am 5'9". Andy are your Zipps tubulars or clinchers - big diff in weight. The hyperons shown are clinchers

According toto the GIANT website, the small frame has a virtual top tube length of around 51-54cm. My vortex is a 53. All the touch points are the same distance on the new bike with a 90mm stem instead of 80 on the Litespeed and the saddle nose is the same distance from a plumb line thru the BB. Still have to sit on it and see how it feels. I can use an SMP saddle which has a very pronouunced upturned tail to get the down slope position i like. Gonna live with it a bit before i do.

Still no thoughts on that cog? Was surprised to see that coming from the Campy factory

Is the cog broken? Some of the teeth are very shallow to aid in shifting. I was surprised by this when I went to campy 11 speed.

I must say that is some serious slope in that top tube. Being 5'9" myself and seeing that much slope on a frame of that size I would worry about getting a water bottle from the seat tube in and out. I bet the long ISM will give it a nice plush ride on the other hand.

Looks like you have spacers both above and below your stem. I like! Drop the bars to go fast, raise 'em when you get older. (Or does no spacers on top keep that from happening?)

The white bottle cages look really slick and I love the subdued graphics. The simple black/white colorway is subtle yet elegant. Nice ride!!

The saddle position, from what I remember, is just what works for you. If it allows you to ride, then that's cool (not that cool has anything to do with it.)

Is the saddle black and silver? Is it an Airone tri? I'd think that a black Airone with the white stripe down the center would be perfect for this bike.

Never, ever ever ever take a pic of your bike in the small ring.

    Never.

Was wondering when i'd take shit for the small ring pic! Thats just how i leave it after every ride. Also on a small cog on the cassette. Read somewhere that its better for the RD to leave it all coiled up so the springs dont get stretched. Just too lazy to change it for the foto. Surprised no one said anything about the caps on the valve stems. PA - that nosedown saddle is the result of getting prostatitis from continued pressure on the anterior perineum (basically all the junk in front of your sit bones) really an unpleasant condition. I found that unloading the front relieved my troubles. Once i got use to it, it felt very natural. If anyone else finds themselves with prostatitis -from its worth trying.

As far as the stem spacers go, i think the shop wanted to give me some leeway both up and down, so it may change but, i'm not averse to leaving it like that. I rode it today for 2 hrs and found the positioning very close to perfect -for gotta hand it to my lbs for being meticulous and measuring everything from the old ride. If anything it feels like i could drop the bars just a bit. The bars have a very shallow drop and i found it much more comfortable than prior large drop bars. Meaning i might actually use them!

I appreciate all the comments - the saddle is black and white and came off my trainer bike. Its a generic "velo" brand a little clunky, but very comfortable. Need to find a replacement that has a similar profile. Upturned tail. Fizik Aliante, maybe. Gobi? Or since it feels good probably should just leave it. Any suggestions?

Thanks Madvax for getting the pic in the thread. I dont know wtf is wrong w/me that i still cant post pics.
I'm gonna post a first impression in a separate thread so it can be found when searching. But here's a teaser: it doesnt suck!

As for the saddle, I'd recommend the Arione Tri because it has a softer nose and more of a hammock shape that, i believe, you prefer. I've tried all the other types of Ariones but the Tri is a lot more comfortable. To each their own though. Considering how pimp your bike looks, you need a complementary saddle!

Was there that much difference in the saddle height relative to the top of the bars on your old bike? Pretty aggressive position for an old guy (we're the same age).

    Looks great !!

I do same thing putting chain on small ring at end of every ride when I turn into our street. Age old habit.

Not my style of bike (now I see what you mean by seat mast!) but I am sure she's fast and the weight spec is great and that's what matters.

Thanks for the recommendation on the saddle. I will check it out. Inferno you have a very good eye . Yes i have slowly become a bit more aggressive in the positioning over the last two years. At first i did it because i saww a picture of my bike and hated the way it looked with the bars high and a few spacers on the steerer tube (a very bad reason i admit). But i did find it became comfortable and could easily maintain the position after i removed the spacers and got a no-rise stem-. Then i noticed that the bar ends werent aimed anywh
ere near horizontal or even barely toward the rear wheel hub as they should. So just to see if i could ride that way, i repositioned the bars and made the drops horizontal. To my surprise I got very comfy with that too without any back pain. Am I faster? Doubtful but probably a little more aero . i like the way the bike looks now. And i think having a slightly smaller frame makes this all easier I expect at some point i wont be able to, but for now i can still pretend i'm a euroracer boy. I still have to learn how to say tranquillo convincingly-
