prototype 650B Drop bar Mtn Bike, 80mm travel White Bros. shock, White Ind hubs, Thomson stem, seatpost, a Katie Compton Thomson Carbon Bar, SRAM Red, White Bros. crank, this is basically the bike John Tomac rode in the 92 or 93 worlds? Anyone remember that drop bar bike with the solid rear disc wheel? You could here him bombing down the mtn for miles on that thing!!This is a bike you could hammer in the mtns, ride in the snow, throw the cross wheels on there for some gravel road action, bike camping, etc..
the bike will come with a set of 700c cross wheels also
the frame was built by a world class track frame builder

looks like a nice gravel grinder. Is it aluminum? Does it have a price yet?

Inferno is right on. I'd buy it in a second in ti carbon or steel, but I already have a 29er drop bar ti frame coming that accepts an 80mm fork.

Sure would. Looks like it would be great on my local gravel logging roads which can be very rough. Tomas rode that Yeti with drops to maintain his road bike position. He was riding on the 7-11 pro team at time.

    No. Cool idea though.
I have efficient XC and gravel type bikes; I'm looking for more of a ripper.

I thought about the New Kona Explosif 27.5, but this looks more fun

Nope, not looking for something that requires a different wheel/ tire/ arsenal.

29'er for off-road, cx for gravel/ fire roads, road for pavement, tandem for dates. Had a unicycle but the monkey upkeep just got to be just too much.

It would be fun to try, but I don't think that I'd buy one since I already have a cross and mt. bike. By the way, I remember when Tomac raced at Mt. Snow the last year that they ran it as three events, XC, down hill and hill climb. The hill climb was an open event, so I can say that I raced against him although actually he raced and I participated. I believe that he won all three events. Awesome performance.

jmr - yup, polished aluminum, looks like it could be in the 4k plus range with two sets of wheels, fully custom sized to you
this thing rips, I have ridden some pretty rugged single track on this bike, it's handling is amazing in the drops, tracks well, etc. and well you all know of my affection for cross bikes, I now own three. This thing SERIOUSLY rips with the 700c wheels as well, all it takes is a quick swap, and you are on your way
Could come with a flat bar, all it would take is a quick change with cable disconnects
thanks for the feedback all, just a prototype at the moment, the thought was, no one is really doing this in a high performance version, and is anybody really doing polished anymore?
For me personally, I'm thinking I'm going to build the Ritchey 27.5, possibly fully rigid with a Ritchey carbon MTB fork

cb2, that Honzo seems a little pricey for what you get?

JS, what can you find with a X7 drivetrain, Elixir5s, and a RS Revelation for less?

Sam does the Buzzard as a frame for £400, but doesn't have provisions to be run as an SS (Not that I'd want to ride a 30 pound slack head angle bike up a hill).
