Thread about weight limit got me thinking

Suppose a "TdF" was run with all teams required to ride 9 man tandems. IT would be very different. On the flat, really fast! Drafting would be close to meaningless. Climbs would be hard.

I would propose that all teams must finish with their 9 man bike and empty seats for all riders who could not finish (or start) a stage, same as current. Choosing riders for your team would be different. I suspect the value of the hard men of the classics would rise. A 120 pound rider on 1500 pounds of bike and teammates would have little value anywhere, even the mountains unless the whole team was that light.

I know, just a pipe dream. but fun to think about.

Me, seven other riders my size, and that bald-headed unemployed cyclist serving a suspension? Hmm...

I don't know Chinook - the track record of those bikes finishing is not very good.

Hey OC maybe the sun was in their eyes.

Why is this not surprising," And the men who spurred us on sit in judgement of our wrongs". Nice byline OC, fits this forum to a tee.

I'd love to see them descent the Alpine passes on that beer bike. There's also the Conference Bike...

On a serious note, I would love to see a legit tandem road racing series.

KR, I think I remember a tandem series in Oregon several years ago partially sponsered by Burley. The thought of racing a tandem crit makes me wake up in a cold sweat.
