Off to a new high

Mileage high. If I do 40 miles I will set a new high since my racing days in the '70s. I got to 7610 miles two years ago and I am just short of that now. I think I will just roll easy on Jessica J, my good fixie and climb the one optional hill both ways to get about 400' of climbing. Then if I get on the bike tomorrow, I'll hit 200,000' of climbing for the year.

This is not exactly meaningful, but it is kinda fun.

Yes, congrats! I love putting in that kind of mileage. As a result of my season-ending crash/injury on Dec 7th, I fell short of 7000 miles for the first time in 3 years. But I did more climbing than I've ever done - from May (when I began tracking elevation gain) to December, I climbed 297,000'. I figure based on the riding/climbing I did prior to May, the total has to be somewhere around 400,000'. Last year I rode to the top of Mt Lemmon 2 or 3 times - in 2012, that number was at least 15. I love to climb, bad knees and all. So thankful for compact cranks.

    Have fun in 2013!

primetimeax, good work on that climbing!

Did my ride. Bested two years ago by 7 miles. Made 200,000' by 30'. 82% of those miles are fixed. (81% of the climbing.)

And I'm going to bed tired!

Congrats! I have nothing near your totals, but I did hit my goal of over 100 miles per week. Last spring I had no kids playing baseball and that was my peak in terms of miles per week.

That being said I have not ridden in a week and a half, and now I am getting sick. Since I don't race if I don't feel like riding I skip it. Plus my wife and I starting jogging a few months ago so those 30-45 minutes runs have replaced a few 2 hour bike rides.

    Nice work guys.

I had 230 ride days this year which being mostly commutes only brought a measly 8,500 km (5,300 mi) but about 105km (344,000') vertical. The statistics I liked best though are riding in 5 countries on 3 continents.

I wanted to break 6800 miles but I got sick on Friday and only made it to 6672 road and mountain (540 hours) with 460728' of elevation gain. Only one country (heck only one region!).

Congratulations Ben! That is quite an accomplishment. And having FUN is the best part.

I feel like such a slacker in this group. Think I hit around 4800 miles for the year. That was much better than planned given all the frequent flyer miles and hotel points I racked up in 2012.

Never thought to track elevation, guess that is a function of the Garmin data I can use. Only drawback to the elevation vs. distance equation is all the track miles I put in are not recorded on the Garmin worth squat. Too much metal in the roof to acquire a solid signal. And I'm not sticking wires and magnets on my clean track bike.
