Thanks, rnddude. (You do know you just sprinkled bait on the water.)
The level of corruption in those bodies is pretty staggering.
Ben
excellent article, but i won't admit to reading it for fear of being accused of being OCD.

interesting how FEW forumites have responded to this article
sorry Virginia, Santa Clause has left the building....
back to work
Meh, another step backward for CCN's credibility. Bunch of criticism, much rehash, no ideas. Pages 1-2 are actually interesting but then he starts droning on about this guy did this, that guy did that, without any focus.
I guess he's a historian so only used to looking back.
So far their "brightest" moment has been to put Lemond forward as UCI president. Lemond was smart enough to tone that notion down quickly. It's all downhill from here.
How come we haven't heard from The Lying Dutchman? Back in September (sorry if this sounds like a Historian talking) Heinie Verbruggen was quoted as saying
"We've had legal suits in the past with Dick Pound so everyone that says we have put things under the table or not done our best is sued. Simple. They can come to the court and prove their case. Simple like that."
So where is the suit against Dr. Hoberman? You know, that "historian" who has spent years studying doping in sports, written books about it? The guy who actually knows things? Heinie should have turned the UCI lawyers loose long ago, if he wasn't the lying Dutch thug he is.
Among the many facts and details with citations that Dr. Hoberman gives in the article is this telling quote.
" You can’t be a doping historian without studying the history of cycling and its entanglement with performance enhancing drugs."

Of course the UCI and some anti-doping agencies were complicit in this matter. We went from an era where cyclist had drivel hanging of their chin, with the look of death in their eyes, when climbing difficult mountain passes, to an era where they were all time trialing up mountains a if it were a Sunday afternoon stroll in the park; carrying on conversations on their race radios, motioning motor bikes to get out of the way. You need an anti-doping convention addressing corruption to figure that one out?
looks like that's Emma O'Reilly sitting beside the good doctor.
after reading Walsh's book and seeing that ABC documentary 'The World According to Lance," O'Reilly and Besty Andreu are my new heroes.
chatted with emma in pau during the 99 tour; gave her a pound of good american coffee for the boys, but didn't realize they were using something stronger.
she was a peach. feel bad for her for all the crap she's been put thru.
Emma should sue Lance, too. Whistle blower
Could be class action at this rate
