Has the forum become a soap opera?

Part of my morning ritual is to cruise thru various websites that interest me, this one usually one of my first stops. I am always intrigues by the right hand list outlining "WHO'S ONLINE NOW" vs. "WHO WAS ON TODAY". Generally less than a dozen loged online at any one time, but usually HUNDREDS have taken a look. I'm not sure if the second tracks everyone that has visited the competetor website, or specifically the forum. IF it is a forum viewing list, we have lots of lookers/readers who do not post. Could it be that WE the posters are the entertainment? Are we the South Park of cycling?

SPAM seemingly has been WAY down. Thanks to the Mods and to Velo.

Content is what we make it, and what we make of it.

I've been coming here for a long time, but almost never post. Too many arguments sometimes turning very nasty between a cast of regulars who seem to have a bit of vitriol for each other. It is beyond tiresome. Once in a while someone will post some cool technical info, or details about a ride/event, or even personal stuff to get perspective - but in total there are just too many threads that devolve into pissing matches.

Hence you will see my name in the "who's been online" far more often that see me actually post or respond to a post.

I think the bulk of people cannot believe that there is "yet another GDF-ing LA thread" and kind of like watching some modern TV show featuring a bunch of total idiots - can be hard to turn off.

The actual cycling threads are often pretty good - not that people actually talk much about that anymore

any bets on how many LA threads are started tomorrow [after Oprah time tonight]? Zero doubt it'll be too many

my bad - I thought the 'confession' was Monday night - turns out it's the 17th. So - unleash the hounds on the 18th then. Good day to take a day off of here ;)

I wonder if part of what Lance can give to USADA besides doping riders we don't know or aren't sure about, is a more accurate picture of other rider's doping timelines. Folks like Liephiemer or Hincapie who disclosed a somewhat limited time period, I wonder if their disclosures get a bit of correcting. Gonna be quite funny if he can pull the rug out from under the UCI as well. Get out the popcorn

"Generally less than a dozen loged online at any one time..."

That number sounds high. I think this place is kind of funny, with all the "experts" sounding so serious and "knowledgeable" about important matters. Usually I wouldn't waste time on a forum that would have someone like me as a member. Seriously. A couple of years ago I tried to quite. I asked and asked to have myself deleted, made a non-member. No luck. You can check in, but you can't check out. So here I am trying to be just as big of an opinionated moron as all the other opinionated morons. Its not much, but it is a change from work all the time.

Since I seem to be serving a life sentence here, I'm hoping that after the ashes of the LA mess have been finally scattered over a swamp somewhere, we can get back to discussing the advantages of 24mm over 23mm tires, and what kind of handlebar tape is best.... the good old days...
