$30 buys a pretty decent light these days.

I got one of these recently

It seems a copy-version of the Magicshine, and is decent overall. Unlike Magicshine, this one has a smooth reflector, so it is a bit more of a focused beam, tho it still provides nice light spill to illuminate the road just in front of the front wheel as well.

I've used it 2x this past week; no issues. The Magicshine has 5 switch settings, tho I never used the strobe (too fast, IMO) or the SOS. This has only 3: high-low-flash. I am sure it is NOT 1600 lumen, but it is as bright as the M shine, which is plenty bright...

looks pretty good, where does the battery mount when you put the light on the handlebars?

If you want a good cheap light that allows you to be seen (but not necessarily to light up the road), you should check out the Wo Bell light set at Walmart. For $13 you get a front and rear light set that attaches easily, doesn't fall off, is easy to turn 0ff/on while riding.

When he isn't riding over rocks, PA rides over 'logs'.

@Bernie: there is a strap and velcro tabs to secure the battery pouch to the bike frame / bars.
