Frank Gore's efforts in the San Francisco 49ers' NFC Championship Game victory over the Atlanta Falcons didn't go unnoticed by the NFL, which decided he wore his socks last Sunday a little too low to its liking was fined $10,500 for wearing his socks too low, a source told ESPN.

He tried to explain he didn't have chance to change out of his bike kit after arriving to the stadium on his bike.

I sent an email to the 49ers asking where I can get a kit like his.

seriously? if true the NFL must be taking its cues from UCI fines for improper seat angles etc.

Second time it's happened to #21 this year, and he was warned before the game. But the fact that the fine was the same as Brady's for his cheap shot on Ed Reed is ridiculous. Uniform violations no greater than 5k, cheap shot to the balls 25k.

They won't touch that with a ten foot pole and neither should you.

bob -- it is sad that we cant express distaste for the mindless and artless body-doodling that so many athletes engage in - and which I feel is tantamaount to sticking a post-it on your forehead that says "My lack of self esteem is exceeded only by my lack of IQ"

Not a race thing -- just a societal/cultural trend. Which it is OK not to like.

Stronz , I think it is one thing to say, "tats suck and I don't like them "but quite another to suggest " wearing tats equates to being a San Quentin thug wannabe. Which is what started the Colin Kaepernick's tat hubbub by sports columnist Whitley. http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2012-11-28/colin-kaepernick-tattoos-49ers-qb-start-alex-smith-stats-contract-draft

Anyway I started this thread because I thought Gores outfit looked more like a cycling kit than a football uniform.Never seen anyone besides Gore wear his pants cut off like that and low sock.

the thug comment was definitely dumb. The inmates in San Quentin have much better taste than that.

I like the football player's kit. Those shoulder pads definitely help prevent collar bone injuries in a crash

Socks? They look more to me like some kinda pansyass ankle warmers like the ballerinas wear. Should have been sent home to change into football clothes.

Would someone explain to me the reasoning behind those "power bands" that the players are wearing on their arms?

Switch reasoning for marketing and you will have a question that answers itself.
