    while you're at it could you please create a "Lance/doping" category here so those of us that can actually talk about bikes and riding them w/o the whole F-ing LA saga can avoid the bulk of F-tards posting incessantly about all things LA

    Right now we have a mere 14 posts on the front page about LA and doping.

    As to the initial question/suggestion....I wish we could do that. For now, we've been given the authority to "ban" spammers and other problem users from posting, but we cannot actually eliminate their logins.

    I've already sent a message to the powers-that-be asking for them to clear out the people we've banned, but so far no luck.

    Re: Lance etc....I'll leave that for Keith to deal with. He has the intestinal fortitude to actually read that crap.

    Just to play the devil's advocate here...

    Why isn't discussion of LA and doping related to cycling? It could be argued that doping (particularly the latest developments) are the single most important topic concerning professional cycling in a long, long, time.

    Why wouldn't the discussion of the issue belong in the "General" forum on velonews.com. I'm not defending the trollers, and you know who you are, but the legitimate postings related to doping and its consequences.

    Also, those that want to talk about bikes, training, etc., should note that there are categories other than "General" that might better serve those topics: "Bikes & Tech" and "Training & Nutrition." If we are going to police the doping discussions onto a separate bulletin board, let's do the same for all the postings about tires, chains, frame design, nutrition, etc.

    I would call for a separate psychoanalysis sub-section to disect all the strange characters that have emerged on the phorum. I'm sure it would do better than "running: shoes & equipment" which still is at pathetic # posts. Maybe also a Kindergarten section ("proper spelling & gramar") which could replace the rock & roll marathon series which isn't rocking at all.

    Wow, looking at the who was on today list is amazing.

    Sure, I can spot several frequent posters, a few that post now and then, but for the most part this looks like a bunch of auto-logging-tool created profiles trying to spam the forum.

    I mean really, who on earth would come up with a name like Habanero?
    :-) just kidding!

    Every now and then I log in from some obscure part of the world, or just plain too late at night, and an amazed at the amount of SPAM that gets dumped into the forum.

    Anything you Mods (MIB) can do to auto-boot those people out is fine with me. That First Amendment needs a little 'Control'.
