crossed the unmarked threshold some time ago.
Thanks 6ix! -
+1
Throw out the trash on a permanent basis. -
Agreed. He's been on my ignore list for some time so I don't even see his trash anymore, but I'm sure nothing has changed
-
What Bernie said.

So what did I miss? DId they finally get rid of SOL, Polish, and Flicker?
Cheers...Daryl LeBlanc

Hey, 6ix, I just PM'd you. Take a quick look when you get a chance...

In defense of Polish, many of his or her posts have been thoughtful and insightful.
-
In opposition to Polish, he injected his idiotic sycophant remarks whenever and where ever he could regardless of the thread topic. The best you could say about him was he is capable of counting to seven which is more than one can say about SOL.
-
//The best you could say about him was he is capable of counting to seven which is more than one can say about SOL. //
True, although he apparently knows the add sign!
-
I'm thick I guess. What happened?
-
I am with you PlanB, what exactly happened?
-
"The best you could say about him was he is capable of counting to seven which is more than one can say about SOL."
So now what do they do when they have free time in the ward?
"There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time."

PlanB and Black Dog, it appears that SOL (and others?) was removed from the "Greg Lemond blacks out..." thread and the thread closed.

Thanks for the information.

I don't understand the cryptic nature of all this.
As long as these three idiots cannot for whatever reason be banned and they're still posting, I don't see the point.
If for whatever reason the technology isn't capable of accomplishing this, their posts need to get deleted, dumb content or not, until they get the message they are not wanted here.
And like I've stated before, it is shameful how this forum behaved towards members who for years were against Armstrong, with the name-calling and the "stfu and go ride ride your bike you obsessive haters" nonsense yet these fool are tolerated.
Those three assholes are ruining this site. People don't want to post and don't even want to visit out of frustration. They are all sitting somewhere in their adult diapers choking the hell out of their little wee-wees in glee because they have finally found a site that will let them destroy it.
-
Berzin - not too crytic. I made an impolite comment that Lemond was "just driving along" (JDA). Tacky and mean and impolite, but not cryptic. SOL chimed in with his usual "+1 polish". He is really a hater in fanboy clothing trying to give true fanboys a badname is the way I feel sometimes lol.
Anyway, now that you are a MIB over on the CN forum - should'nt you be over there busting fanboy chops? Not whining over here waa. waa. BTW, guess how many sockpuppets I have over there? Guess how many? Do I need to count them out for you? Get busy bucko
-
As far as the CN site goes, it was ruined long ago with the bans of Polish, BPC, Joe Papp, myself, etc.
Truly pertinent bloggers, we. There is only one relevant poster there, C----b s--ne.
I think that every site needs a counterpoint. A cycling site is not about a bunch of has beens, sitting on a barstool, with their name on it, patting one another on the backside.
I still like Lance. He did a lot for the sport of cycling and for cancer sufferers.
Granted not a role model, imperfect, but who is?
So Be--z-n if we revel in the excitement, which was ended by T-Gart, who do we hurt???
-
yeah gotta agree with flicker; as long as basic marquess of queensberry rules are observed (no ad hominem attacks, out & out lies, etc.) this tent should be big enough to contain a diversity of opinions. gets pretty boring when everyone agrees.
of course, i could see justifying banning SOL on his annihilation of the english language alone, except for the fact that it was damn entertaining finding all the "where's waldo" kick-me signs in his posts.
-
I think many people here are missing something. SOL was a fake persona, much like Splitwheels. The person (or persons) behind those were intentionally throwing jabs into the forum knowing full well that people would think those were their actual opinions. I don't know who either of them are, but I always got a laugh out of them. Additionally, seeing forumites go ballistic in response is a hoot. Some folks take the forum a bit too seriously, which I think is evidenced by how strongly they would react to the posts from SOL and Splitwheels.
-
Polish-only an asshole of epic proportions would take pride in the number of sock puppets they have created. You obviously have nothing better to do with your life.
Flicker-Joe Papp is another loser, but no doubt he's another one of your heroes. Too bad he wasn't sent to the slammer where he belonged, doing time and getting it exactly where he, you and Polish deserve-right up the rear end.

I wouldn't want to ban anyone. That's a step that troubles me. The three 'trolls', as people seem to refer to them here, are irritating as hell to me too, even though my position (at least on the one subject in these threads that they seem interested in) is seldom much different from theirs. The respect in which my position differs is that I feel very strongly that Armstrong controlled information in a patently immoral way. That's why he should be out of cycling. And that's a quality of manipulation — of control — that we should avoid in a forum as well.
Our discussions would look tidier, calmer, and more rational without the crass, poorly written, cliché-riddled, misspelt contributions of the three trolls. But no discussion should 'look' like one at the cost of actually 'being' one. The real thing is going to be a mess. As Clive James put it recently, 'The problem with free societies is that by definition they're full of stuff we don't want to have to listen to'.
That said, the three trolls are engaged in a poop-slinging match with people whose minds they will never change, whom they themselves have identified as 'haters'. To me that suggests that they fully understand what they're doing: merely shouting, to no effect, the name of a category at the top of their lungs. And the people who, so the trolls claim, occupy that category are apparently up for slinging it back. I'm not sure what the point of that is.
I would be less irritated, and possibly at the same more illuminated, by arguments from these, what, dramatis personae directed toward the middle ground, which is where I am. For example, I view Armstrong as, by dint of his outsized personality and public recognition, an embodiment of a much more generalised cynicism in contemporary sport. If there is some legitimate sense in which he has contributed to cycling, then what is it — in finite, concrete terms? Name it, prove it. If his contribution was of a kind that will ultimately result in its ruination (something I don't believe myself), that's not a useful contribution. We don't rate Mussolini's contribution to Italian political stability by his public works achievements up to 1939. We judge him according to a somewhat longer timeline.

To add onto what PlanB is saying, I think disciplinary measures should be specific to disagreeable behaviors...not disagreeable opinions.
