dunno, looks pretty shifty. yet happy.

Way to happy to be shifty..... Maybe the too happy should be a warning sign? :)

Good thing I was on the other side of the course fencing :-)

LOL! He does look rather seedy.
I stayed in that spot the whole time during the mens race and was amazed at how fast they went up the climb and how they kept the bikes upright when both wheels were drifting and slipping sideways on the mud.
We couldn't see Trebon fall but heard the grown of the crowd when he went down-- must have hit hard. Were you on the rail watching the descent? That was one nasty down hill with the gully across the side.
-
I wondered what happened to Trebon and had yet to find out.
For the elite Men I was right at a treacherous, left hand off-camber but was also quite close to the descent after the stone staircase and could see the bottom half of that without moving. Could see other areas from a distance like the grassy section after the start pavement, the flyover and a few other spots

To better explain where I was, go to the 25:45 minute mark of the race coverage. I was right at the exit of the sharp left hand 180. Kevin Pauwels came sliding ride at me on the first lap

That camera angle doesnt do justice to how delicately the riders were having to take that turn
-
So that is the turn that Vos kept taking very gingerly, one hand on fencing?
Too much happiness on that forumites face :-)
The wise man said follow me...and he walked behind. -
Many, many riders were grabbing the fence as they made the turn. If you were not hugging the fencing you would be lucky to stay upright
-
I was just below that turn during the juniors and noticed none of the US juniors grabbed the fence whereas many of the Belgians and Dutch riders did. It kept them high on the course-- if they dropped down it was as jacobus said.
I didn't get a decent shot of you across the fence-- cold fingers and iPhone made for a lot of missed shots but I did get Page during his mechanical and a few others on that hill.
