The Official Lance Armstrong Doping Case clearinghouse.

flicker, when you are subpoenaed to testify as George was, you got no choice. You kinda have to tell the truth or you end up in jail ala Marion Jones or Martha Stewart.

With the Andreu's, if you have done your reading, it was the same thing. The first time they were asked to give testimony, they refused because they were NOT subpoenaed. The second time, they were. So they went and told the truth.

It is his word versus ours. We like our word. We like where we stand and we like our credibility."--Lance Armstrong.

I have heard this argument a million times about how everyone else was doping so it is OK that Lance and George and the rest of the team did it too. When I tried to use this logic as a kid, ("Well, he was doing it too!"), my parents would say "two wrongs don't make a right", and they were 100% right. Each person decides as an individual to break a rule and they are fully liable as an individual for breaking it. We set our own standards. People who have no problem stooping to the lowest common denominator scare me.

These pictures of George riding with the development team don't sit well with me, sort of like he's teasing us

Part of me is happy that he's supporting emerging talent and there's no Levi or Mancebo on the roster. The other part of me can't look past the fact that he seems unrepentant about his doping. Media silence, the cowardly sliding out the door to retirement before the hammer dropped, the golden retirement bike BMC gave him and so on. I find it weird. If the business suffers, so be it. There are plenty to cover the gap in the market

Armstrong and FRS sued in class action lawsuit-

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-03-01/lance-armstrong-frs-accused-in-suit-of-false-advertising.html

...and another insurance company wants their money back for bonuses paid out to Armstrong for three of his seven now-stripped fraudulent wins-

"ABC News has learned that an insurance carrier has decided to file suit against Lance Armstrong for three million dollars, plus damages. The Nebraska company, Acceptance Insurance, covered the bonuses on Armstrong's Tour de France wins from 1999 to 2001."

Tired of being tired, or tired of getting sued, eh Lance?

Lance can now sleep at night. He can look at himself in the mirror. He can finally have honest dicussions with his kids.

How much is THAT worth? Priceless, that is how much.

Look, Lance could have faught the USADA, gone to CAS, won - and never admit to anything.

But he himself made the decision to apologize. Go on Oprah. Clear up the Fat Betsy myth. Lance made his bed and made his decision to do what he did. Lance in control as always.

Sleep tight, Lance, sleep tight. You did the right thing.

ps...the Fat Betsy Myth is the myth that Lance CALLED her fat. Nothing to do with her actual fatness.

"How did Lance botch this up"?

Because in a country of 313 million there are only two left that adore him, and they both post here.

    LeMond VO2 max 95, Armstrong 82....doh

Theres a lot more than 2 if you include the band members that the mods won't let post here. And once those two go what kind of discussions will there be?

    Jah,

I don't buy the moralist perspective. Cycling has been dirty before George. He did well for himself, lets' congratulate him.

I am grateful that Lance supporters are able to post here, Polish and me Flicker, two more than are allowed on the CN forum. Someone commented there that Lance suporters are to afraid and ashamed to post there.

LOL. We have been harrassed and banned.

I am sorry that some intelligent posters are not allowed here.

The "Official Lance Armstrong Doping Case clearinghouse" thread... a curious place to visit but i wouldn't want to live where the inmates are running the asylum.

Right now the mods are running the asylum and this place is like on 24 hour lockdown. A whole army could be unleashed here not just Polish and Flicker.

One of the things that makes me laugh are the trolls who feel that a groundswell of pro-Lance public opinion would change the inevitable, and that their collective sheer force of will would be enough to dramatically alter the narrative.

That's what Armstrong thought also, and probably still does even after getting the boot from his own cancer foundation, which by the way is slowly floundering and about to exit stage left into insolvency very soon-I give it less than a year.

Well, that groundswell of public opinion turned out to be a couple of clowns with the requisite sock puppets to match, all of maybe three posters at the most, who figure the more noise they make the more they'll sound like a crowd.

But public opinion has Armstrong as the most reviled athlete in the US, and glory be to that. What is left for Lance are lawsuits, lawsuits, and more lawsuits. Even if he doesn't lose any of them, the money he'll have to spend on lawyers will do him in.

Berzin, what amuses me is how their adulation for that chump remains even while their story changes-- from "He's the most tested, pure as the driven snow" drivel to the present attitude that "he did the right thing by coming clean" and trying to deflect the doping to the rest of USPS/ Discovery/ Motorola. If he turned out to be an ax murderer they would still find a way to love him even as he heads off to Sing Sing.

Watermoccasin-great points. What is ironic, and absolutely despicable, is the line of reasoning Armstrong's lawyers are using to weasel out of the contractual obligations Lance and the other Postal riders had to ride clean.

"There was enough evidence of doping-the USPS should have known". Oh really? Isn't this what lead to all the lying and bullying? Then why fight so hard for so long against anyone who accused him, just for telling the truth?

To defend this type of unprecedented mendacity certainly gives me the creeps, but that is what Armstrong's defenders are-creeps with no moral backbone whatsoever.

What amuses me the most is the fact that their love of Lance is more important than telling their children the truth. Talk about pathetic.

Yes. And for anyone who believes these lawsuits will go away, we are still under the iron grip of a world-wide recession.

Inferno7-Companies that did business with Armstrong are reviewing their options with their lawyers to see if they can get some if not all of their money back including lawyer fees, especially the insurance companies that paid Armstrong a bonus for his stripped titles.

Watermoccasin-I forgot to mention something else. The other morally bankrupt talking point going around now is how USPS has no right to their money back because their sponsorship of a doped team made them money.

Unfortunately for Armstrong, that little detail wasn't in the contract.

    Now, that one is funny:

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/armstrong-faces-loss-of-french-legion-of-honour-title

That'll teach them to give it to anybody!

Note to Polish, Flickr: no need to open that link, it would require you to look up and understand the meaning of the word 'honor'. The concept is a bit complex, just don't bother.

After the French strip Lances' Legion of Honor medal Lance will be eatin' some big Kahuna Burgers. That's that Hawaiian burger joint. I hear they got some tasty burgers

I believe Eddy is a Walloon, thusly a native French speaker. He was born near Brusseles Belguim. Eddy himself won't say.

I am no Lance fan by any means, never have been...but who on earth told him that coming clean on Oprah was going to HELP his situation? If it was anybody else's decision besides him own, he should fire that person and then kill them.

Humm, probably not a good idea, as that would eliminate Sally Jenkins as his last media fan. Then the poor guy will only have Polish!
