bike storage options

I'm seeking opinions on garage bike storage options. We just moved, and new OS 2 car garage has 12 foot ceilings with several continuous rows of built-in shelves (maybe 2 ft deep and 30 in high) on 3 sides. Upper 2 levels require a ladder for access.

First thought was for bike lifts, but that seems like a lot more effort to install, and then having the release ropes mounted to reachable yet out of the way locations....

I was thinking about attaching QR mounts to shelves at staggered intervals to store at least 3 of my bikes. This of course means up and down a ladder, but I'm thinking this might not be so bad. Coming from an 80 YO house to a 2 YO house, I have a 'spare' ladder dedicated to garage use already...

    TIA

We built a mezzanine in our garage for bikes and other stuff. In summer, the skis will go up there and bikes will be in the garage. Stairs access the mezzanine with storage under the stairs with a security door.

Run 2 2x6 parallel (spaced approx for wheels) from wall to wall like rafters and 10 feet off the ground. Should allow you to hang 4-6 bikes side by side off of hooks. This allows you enough clearance height for an Suv's but low enough to reach without needing a ladder.

Kinda like this but have two spaced to accept whole bike.

J_A posted a pic here of his very sweet setup not so long ago (under the show steed thread) that might fit what you're looking for.

I just have a couple of hooks to hang my bikes from.
