the ignore feature works for me but like someone said, these guys just keep on changing their user ID.
i'm not a tech guy at all. But didn't VN just "upgrade" the "system". And we had all those earlier issues, now things work (for the most part) OT is back and now hit by spammers. What's next?!?
For 100 points, the question is: What is for lunch at the VN cafe?
Not being an expert in those issues, but the simplest explanation seems to me that in order to fix the forum's posting and login problems we were having, someone just relaxed some security settings. That (sort of) fixed the issue, while creating another one with the spammers.
...yes but where are the "Mods" who have the God like power of deletion?
Or for that matter where the hell is Administration?

I am sure they are well aware what a laughing stock this place is becoming; we don't need to rub their respective noses in it.
OC it's the spammers rubbing their noses in it, we are just trying to help facilitate a resolution. Maybe they forgot how to delete unwanted threads?
As someone else said in a previous post, what exactly was wrong with the old forum that VN felt the need to "upgrade"?
Bob - In the face of this amount of spam, deleting unwanted threads is a neanderthal solution and you just can't keep up.
If this aggresive spam filter that they had to unplug to let us post has an option to identify "trusted posters" then perhaps they should plug it back in. Generating a list of trusted posters couldn't be more than an hour's work. The only problem I could see is with recognizing legit new users but as a temporary fix it should do.

As I said in another thread, I dunno what happened to my Moderator powers. Someone musta slipped me some Kryptonite in my Gu. For some reason, I can't delete Spam!

The spam plugin we had previously was stopping the spam, but also stopping lijit messages. So we're investigation a new plugin, but trying to find one that balances posts from legit people making it through, versus keeping the spam out..
And please keep these messages in the OT or suggestions forum... These are not related to velonews items...
