Looking at different brands of winter shoes: Lake, Specialized, and louis Garneau. I know that Lake is probably the best but they are also $$$. Does anyone have other brands that keep their feet warm during winter rides. I live in New England.

I have the Lakes, but I bought them for offroad, but since I have them and have mtb pedals on my fixie, I'll use them when it's real cold. Down to the twenties on the road, wool socks and neoprene shoe covers do the trick.

I got a pr at cbike.com on sale and 25% off - ended up not being too much at all. Nalini brand - I had no idea they made shoes - mine are road version - work fine - and were less than half the cost of Sidis.
Calling for a high of 45 tomorrow - it may be the 1st day I wear them of the season. I'll put some mid-weight shoe covers over them in mid-low 20s (which it will be at 0600 WED AM).

I have an old pair of Sidis. They are otherwise fine but the Velcro strap around the ankle is too short and opens too easily. I use them mostly with overshoes, though, when it is not a problem.

Pony up for the Lakes - I live in Western Maine and use the MTB ones on my cross bike is sub zero temps. I can go about 2 hours with wool socks and the shoes before I start feeling the cold seep in.

2nd Hab -- the Lakes rock.

Suck it up, buy the Lakes, you will not regret it.
Zero buyer's remorse. -

Howsabout buying a size larger than normal so you can wear heavier socks...and neoprene?
