Interesting. My experience is similar but I don't ride as much anymore.

That's a fascinating result! When will they be offering 13-speed chains? I'm in!

When I bought my first "good" road bike, the guys in the LBS near me who knew their stuff encouraged me to get Shimano instead of Campy. They felt that the quality was very high for the money, and the durability was proven. This advice proved to be very good, and I enjoyed my 8 speed Ultegra drivetrain.

I have since bought two mountain bikes, both with Shimano, and I just can't find a flaw in their stuff. It is designed and engineered very well. Never had an issue with Shimano chains, and will likely get the 10 speed chain for my 9 speed drivetrain. Interesting tip.

I have heard that folks are using 11 speed chains on shimano 10 speed (road) and it works really well. supposedly recommended by shimano usa

I like shimano chains but I always use a kmc because I like their quick link. Easiest to remove for cleaning

So why don't they offer a 9 sp chain of equal quality?
