Today was a perfect reminder we live in a temperate rainforest climate.

What's not to love. So what I would like to know is why no one else came out to play?

The wise man said follow me...and he walked behind.

Congratulations for obeying the rules of cycling. Good Karma to you!

I'll profess my ignorance, and forgive me if that's violating some other "cycling rule #whatever:
What are the first 9 rules of cycling, and specifically, what is number 9?

I rode today, but my day looked like this:

LSD - where have you been? We had a character hanging around here for a while (Garuda) telling us all about the Rules. It was mildly entertaining.

I am not a Rule guy either but happen to like # 9. It deals with riding in conditions typically only found outside the Great State of California.

Clearly, Cycling Chick must be from California and is flaunting the rules. So is Bobswire, I am sure.

Ok, I'll admit that I was flaunting a bit. :)

I think the Rules are kind of funny. I often quote #7 as I don a skirt and heels. Darn those tan lines.

I did the strava 100 mile challenge in weather like that today in Victoria. Rule#9 with a good dose of Rule#5.

OC- you're way tougher than I am these days. Were you wearing a helmet? I swear, the last time I rode with only a stocking on my head was when I got hit by a car!! I had enough time while flying through the air to think "wow, really bad day to NOT wear my helmet!"

Be careful out there and remember to drain your rims when you get home.

I spent four days in AZ last week and had some amazing riding on great trails in 75 degree temps. I'm back in Boise with fresh snow on the ground this AM.

What rule governs me moving to a a location without cold and wet? I want to live in a place that is between 65-85 everyday with endless sisngle track!

28 degrees, still snow on the ground from Nemo another foot planned for tonight. I failed. Decided to ride in the basement before the family got up. I'd take a pic, but it isn't that exciting.

We are still enjoying nice winter weather. I took this picture of a fellow commuter on my ride yesterday.

cerv - that's a lot of miles for this time of year. Working towards a specific target?

(6ix - that's classified; jmdirt - that'd get boring quick, the weather, not the trails)

OC, I don't think that it would for me. I used to love snow sports too but with each passing year it gets harder for me to walk out the door as the temps get below 50. I do it, I did a road ride at 35 degrees and 15-25 mph winds yesterday, but I didn't enjoy it. I enjoyed it more than an indoor ride but not anywhere near the enjoyment of a 70 degree ride.

@OC. it was my last week of base miles for the year before starting some speed work, but mostly it was strava, which makes you do silly things you wouldn't otherwise do. We picked the worst possible day for it as well. All rain, all morning.
Working towards some of the spring races, and not embarrassing myself too much in my first year as a late entry to cycling cat2 riding with the young guys.

cerv - that is way more ambitious than I am. Just hoping to have some good fun in the hills again this summer so with an eye on that I am starting to ramp up the climbing.

Went out probably at peak rainfall on Friday late morning with all the road ditches pretending to be mountain streams. Then just about when the ride was done I could see a bit of blue on the horizon. It's the kind of stuff that makes you feel alive.

OlmoRider - those are the plowed bike paths, aren't they? if so, consider yourself very lucky to live there!

only rule that matters is #5. Nice ride tho. Taking a picture of yourself tho is probably a violation....

@jacques: Thanks. That particular path is wider than most. It may have originally been built as a road.

Can't do that here. Hasn't rained (drizzle isn't rain) for weeks. they say it won't for weeks more, so we'll have to substitute wind. It was windy yesterday, so there.

Rule #17// Team kit is for members of the team.

A rider in a full Rabobank kit complete with bright orange arm and leg warmers rides by us as we're heading home from the local farmers market yesterday morning. First thought that goes through my mind was, poser. As soon as we refrigerated our stuff we had to head back out. A few miles up the road same kit different rider. Now I'm thinking training maybe.

"Riding is about rhythm and flow. It's the wind in your face and the challange of hammering up a long hill. It's the reward at the top and the thrill of a high-speed descent. Biking lets you come alive both in body and spirit."

You are correct; this likely falls under Rule # 81 ("don't talk it up" unless hospitalized). I thought about that when posting, but what would we talk about here, tube weight, bartape, that guy that can't be named?

    Right...
