Phinney put in a dominating performance. He won by 7 seconds on a 5.7km course. Unreal.

Looking good and healthy for a change, really has not had an opportunity health wise to show what he can do. This tour may be a good vehicle for him?

Did you read about the rain situation, that certainly would have helped him out a little.

Yeah, but most of the fast guys raced on dry: David Millar, Boassan Hagen, etc.

pa, were you a drill seargeant? you know, the guys in charge of tearing the soldiers down? So that the REAL soldiers can teach them how not to be like a drill seargeant.

Big win for Phinney. He has to be among a short list of favorites to win the TT in the Vuelta this year. Man, BMC is on a charge.

    Don't believe the hype.
Phinney's good from 1-10k and that’s about it, I wouldn't expect much more from him. If his pop didn't ride for occy he still would be an amateur, nobody hires a prologue specialist. Let’s face it, he's strong but his bike handling skills are suspect. His national TT title was a gifted to him and he hasn't won much more on the road except for a prologue or two. He's strong for a junior or U23 but I don’t see him cut from the same cloth as Talansky, TJ, or Sagan.

Agree w/stormchaser. It's a big win for TP because he's never won anything as a pro. A big deal for sure and he deserves credit. But we all know who the real wonder kid of cycling is and hes less than 180 days older than Taylor. Heres what he's done, pretty frickin' impressive.

Weird. Dude's won more pro races than I'll ever win. Seems like success in my book even if he never wins another race (though I bet he'll win something). Everyone doesn't have to be the second coming of E.Mercx though that other kid inferno mentioned is definitely something.

Sagan's a freak. No doubt. The thing is, I'd be willing to bet that Phinney wouldn't try to compare himself to Sagan so Im not sure why we are. He knows his current strengths, will improve in others and do fine as a pro.

The original post was about a dominating win in a short prologue. Not about future success and who's better than who.
